Daily living and mobility

Areas of daily living include self care, domestic tasks, work, recreation, social interaction, community access and mobility (OT Australia 2010).

People with MND need different levels of support to help them manage their daily personal activities and to remain as independent as possible.

Assessment by an occupational therapist will help identify equipment, small aids and strategies that can assist the individual to achieve optimal performance in activities of daily living. Consultation by a physiotherapist is important in determining equipment needs to maintain optimal mobility.
