ABC television’s 7.30 provides an insight into the emotional impact and pervasive sense of loss affecting families with the inherited form of MND.
“We go through life being asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" For me in my family I just wanted to be alive. I've been to more funerals in my life than I've been to weddings.” – Meg Collins (member of the Yerbury family)
This report focusses on the Yerbury family and in particular MNDRIA Bill Gole Fellow Dr Justin Yerbury of the Illawarra Health and Research Institute who changed from a career in marketing to one in science so that he could contribute to research into a disease that had plagued his family for several generations.
